Women's Volleyball Earns Fourth Straight Win

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team picked up its fourth straight victory on Tuesday evening, topping Howard Payne University 3-1 in a non-conference road contest. The 'Roos are now 9-1 overall on the year.

Austin College cruised to a 2-0 lead with wins of 25-18 and 25-15 in the opening two sets, but HPU came back to pick up a 25-23 win in set three. However, the 'Roos would close things out with a 25-17 win in the third set. The 'Roos had a .208 team hitting percentage in the match, and Victoria Smith led the way with 16 kills. Smith also boasted a .314 attacking percentage. 

Riley Abernethy added 12 kills and seven digs in the win, and also had three total blocks including two block solos. Mari Prazak paced the 'Roos defensively with 26 digs, and Brooklyn Talley posted a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs. Brianne Barch had eight kills, and Olivia Linton added seven. Brianne Tseng chipped in 16 assists and eight digs in the win.

Austin College heads to Irving this weekend, taking on Centenary and Dallas in a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., respectively.
