'Roos Sweep Paul Quinn and Dallas Christian

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College volleyball team rolled to a pair of 3-0 victories over visiting Paul Quinn College and Dallas Christian College on Wednesday to kick off the 2021 campaign, bringing the 'Roos to 2-0 to open the season.

The 'Roos were dominant in the opening match against Paul Quinn, using a .329 team hitting percentage to earn the 25-17, 25-8, 25-13 victory over the Tigers. Paul Quinn wound up with a negative hitting percentage in each of the three sets, totaling just 12 kills in the match compared to 39 for Austin College. Leading the way for the 'Roos was Victoria Smith, who finished with 13 kills and a .458 hitting percentage, while Olivia Linton chipped in seven kills. 

Brooklyn Talley had a match-best 23 assists in the win, adding a service ace and a pair of digs, and Mari Prazak had 15 digs to pace the 'Roos. Riley Abernethy added five kills, three digs, and two service aces in the win.

Against Dallas Christian, the 'Roos cruised to a 25-10 opening set victory before needing to come from behind to top the Crusaders 25-23 in set two, and finally closed things out with a 25-15 win in the third set to earn their second sweep of the evening. Once again the 'Roos boasted a team hitting percentage of better than .300, finishing the match with a .314 team clip for the match. Abernethy led Austin College with 10 kills and added seven digs in the win, while Smith had six kills and zero attacking errors. Cheyenne Dantonio, Brianna Barch, and TJ Folse each had five kills for the 'Roos.

Talley finished with 21 assists while Brianne Tseng added 10, and Prazak paced the 'Roos with 18 digs in the victory.
