Women's Tennis Falls in SCAC Opener

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Austin College women's tennis team saw its season come to a close on Thursday, as the 'Roos fell to Southwestern University 5-0 in the team's opening round match at the 2023 SCAC Championships.

The 'Roos dropped their line three doubles match by walkover, while Bailey Standokes and Kylie Imperial fell 8-1 on line one and Sierra Thomas and Karina Alvarez were bested on line two by that same score. 

In singles competition, Alvarez fell 0-6, 0-6 on line four, and with a walkover on line six, the Pirates were able to clinch and advance in the tournament. Other matches in progress at the time of the team match concluding were a line one score of 0-6, 0-2 for Imperial, as well as a 0-6, 0-3 line two match for Standokes. Thomas competed at line three and saw her match unfinished at 0-6, 0-3, and Cynthia Zapata's line five match likewise went unfinished, with the score 0-6, 0-5 at the conclusion of the opening round.
