'Roos Fall to UTD in Regular Season Finale

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to the University of Texas-Dallas on Sunday afternoon, bringing the 'Roos to 3-9 overall as the team heads into next weekend's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament in San Antonio.

Gigi Francis and Phoebe Shapard fell 8-4 on line one in doubles competition, while Megan Morris and Madelin Hiler dropped an 8-3 decision on line two. Sierra Thomas and Elena Aventa fell 8-0 playing at number three to round out doubles action.

Francis fell 1-6, 1-6 at line one, while Shapard dropped a 0-6, 0-6 decision on line two for the 'Roos. Morris was on the losing side of a 1-6, 0-6 line three match, and Hiler fell 0-6, 0-6 on line four. Thomas was defeated 1-6, 0-6 on line five, and Aventa fell 3-6, 1-6 at line six.

Austin College will now head to the SCAC Tournament next weekend, where they'll take on Schreiner on April 30 on the campus of Trinity University.
