'Roo Women's Soccer Wins Big Against Randall

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team was dominant from start to finish against visiting Randall University on Saturday, topping the Saints 7-1 to improve to 3-3-1 overall on the year.

Austin College out-shot Randall 47-1 in the game, and the 'Roos went ahead 2-0 in the first half before the Saints lofted in a goal just under the cross-bar from 45 yards out to make it 2-1 at halftime. Austin College got its scoring started with a Rebekah Gutierrez tally off of a feed from Layla Mireles in the 24th minute, and just over a minute later, Jessica Hayakawa blasted a shot from 40 yards out that ducked under the cross-bar for the team's second goal of the game.

The 'Roos were even more dominant in the second half, out-shooting Randall 25-0 in the final 45 minutes of action. Brittany Hutton scored off of an assist from Emeri Watson in the 46th minute, and Myles McGaha tallied to make it a 4-1 game five minutes later with Watson and Sage Newton assisting. Hayakawa added her second goal at the 64:48 mark, and Bryanna Cortes-Pinedo finished a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to make it 6-1. The 'Roos would tack on one more score in the 86th minute, as Allison Clark buried an attempt from distance to make it 7-1.
