SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team dropped its final game of the 2022 campaign 5-2 against visiting St. Thomas on Sunday in Apple Stadium, finishing the year with an overall record of 1-15-1 overall and 1-13 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Celts wasted little time getting on the board, as Brooke Le found the back of the net just 29 seconds into the match when she launched a shot from 25 yards that went just out of reach for Austin College keeper Kenedie Lane. Blake DelaMater doubled the lead nine minutes later, but Austin College would bring the margin back to one in the 12th minute as Brittany Hutton scored for the third time this weekend to make it 2-1.

St. Thomas would add one more goal before halftime as Le once again put one home, making it a 3-1 game heading into the break. The Celts would grow the lead to 4-1 at the 64:14 mark as Emma Cerda tallied, but Austin College would make it 4-2 two and a half minutes later when Shelby Smith launched a free kick from 45 yards out, giving the senior defender her second career goal in the final game of her career. However, UST would add one more score in the 70th minute as Mariana Alvarez-Garcia tallied to make it a 5-2 final.

St. Thomas held a 28-9 shot advantage in the match, with Lane making eight saves in defeat. UST keeper Sadie Penney had three stops for the Celts.
