SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaker in the opening match of the 2022 campaign, surrendering a goal in the 86th minute of action of what had been a scoreless game en route to a 1-0 defeat against Hendrix College on Thursday evening.

Defense was the word of the day through the bulk of the contest between the 'Roos and Warriors, with Austin College goalkeeper Heaven Barber putting up a stalwart effort with 10 saves. Hendrix out-shot the 'Roos 18-3 in the game, including 11-0 after halftime, but it wasn't until the 85:56 mark that the Warriors managed to put one in on the Austin College defense. 

The goal for the Warriors came off the foot of Mackenzie Sinclair, who punched one into the back of the net to make it a 1-0 game, and Austin College was unable to find the equalizer in the waning moments of action. The 'Roos will be looking to rebound on Saturday, when they head to Longview to take on LeTourneau University.
