Women's Soccer Blanked by ETBU

SHERMAN, Texas – East Texas Baptist scored four first half goals and Austin College was unable to recover, falling 5-0 to the Tigers on Thursday night at the Dr. Jack R. Pierce Memorial Soccer Complex. The 'Roos are now 0-3 on the year with the loss.

The Tigers got on the board early, with Jena Kucera scoring on a header in the 6th minute of action. Two minutes later, Abigail Bath found the net to make it a 2-0 game. East Texas Baptist would make it a 3-0 game in the 16th minute on a goal by Raegan Kappler, who would score again in the 33rd minute to send the Tigers into the break leading Austin College 4-0. 

Ashleigh Rondon, who assisted on three first half goals, capped off the scoring for East Texas Baptist in the 61st minute, finding the back of the net off a feed from Kucera to make it 5-0. Austin College attempted 15 shots in the game, but were unable to generate any offense to keep up with the Tigers.

Meredith Harris made three saves for Austin College, while Karrigan Falber stopped all four shots she saw for ETBU. Austin College steps into Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Sunday when they host first-year conference foe Johnson & Wales University at 2:00 p.m.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
