SUWANEE, Ga. - Austin College women's basketball player Brooklyn Matthews has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week after an outstanding performance to help the 'Roos go 2-0 last week, the league office has announced.

Matthews, a sophomore center from Conroe, had a huge week for Austin College as the 'Roos clinched a spot in the SCAC Tournament with a win over Dallas, averaging 17.0 points and 14.0 rebounds-per-game while shooting a blistering 82.4 percent from the field and also adding 2.0 blocks-per-game. Matthews scored 17 in each game, leading the 'Roos to a non-conference win earlier in the week against Arlington Baptist and pulled down a career-best 16 boards in the team's win over UD. Matthews' efforts have helped lift Austin College to its first three-game win streak since January 2022.
