Al Hoggatt enters his second season as an assistant coach of the 'Roo softball program in 2024. A native of Red Oak, Hoggatt attended Tarleton State University, where he earned a degree in Animal Science, as well as a master’s degree in Range and Ranch Management. He has also proudly served as a professional firefighter for more than 20 years. Hoggatt feels blessed to have been given two callings in his life: serving as a fireman, and coaching softball. He states, “My goal as a coach is to encourage my athletes to be humble competitors while preparing them to be productive members of society!”

Hoggatt comes to Austin College with 14 years of coaching experience that includes all age levels. His last eight years have been spent at the select level, where he has been an assistant coach for three different organizations. Most recently, he served as an assistant coach in the Texas Titans organization, where he manages their committed 18u team. He has seen much success and has seen many of his athletes move on to the collegiate level.

His proudest accomplishment of all is his family. He and his wife Amy have been happily married for 22 years, and have three beautiful daughters. Kylie is at UMHB, where she is playing softball and pursuing a degree in Pre-Physical Therapy. Rylin is a sophomore in high school, where she is heavily involved in theatre. Braylie, who is in seventh grade, has just started her second season of select softball.
