'Roo Softball Headed Back to SCAC Tournament

SHERMAN, Texas - For the first time since 2015, the Austin College softball team is headed back to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, where they'll enter the fray as the No. 6-seed and take on defending conference champion St. Thomas in the opening round in Seguin.

Austin College had one of its strongest seasons since the program was brought back in 2007, finishing the regular season with an overall record of 18-20, the most wins in the regular season in the modern era of 'Roo softball. The previous top mark was 17 wins in the regular season, and 18 wins overall, in 2014. The 'Roos will head to Seguin, where top-seeded Texas Lutheran University will be hosting the double elimination championships.

St. Thomas, which finished the season with an overall record of 22-12 and heads to the tournament as the No. 3-seed, swept the season series with Austin College by scores of 13-0, 10-1, and 5-4 in the first conference series of the year, and is 15-6 in conference play this season, compared to a 7-14 mark for the 'Roos.
