SUWANEE, Ga. - Austin College softball player Elizabeth Preston has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week after an outstanding season-opening performance in which she helped the 'Roos go 2-0, the league office has announced.

Preston, a shortstop from Prairiland, got her senior season off to a scorching-hot start as the 'Roos earned a doubleheader sweep over Hendrix for the first time since 2014, with the shortstop batting .857 with a double, a triple, five runs scored, four stolen bases, and an RBI. She had an on-base percentage of .875 and a 1.286 slugging percentage as the 'Roos defeated the Warriors by scores of 9-4 and 15-7. Preston's efforts help lift Austin College to its first 2-0 start since the 2016 season.
