Five From 'Roo Tennis Earn CSC Academic All-District

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College men's tennis players Yudai Abe, Tate Nelson, Trey Salyer, and AJ Wueste as well as women's tennis player Sierra Thomas have been selected as Academic All-District picks for their outstanding performances both on the court and in the classroom.

Abe, a sophomore from Tokyo, Japan, earned his spot on the Academic All-District team with a grade-point-average of 3.975 with a major in finance, while Nelson, a senior mathematics major from The Colony, was named Academic All-District with a grade-point-average of 3.979. Salyer, a sophomore double major in history and classics from Frisco, was named Academic All-District with a GPA of 3.818, and Wueste, a sophomore business finance major from Houston, earned his spot with a GPA of 3.875. On the women's side, Thomas, a junior history major from Melissa, was named Academic All-District with a GPA of 3.6.

The 2023 Academic All-District Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes women's tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 1.
