SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team came up short in a comeback bid against visiting Texas Lutheran on Friday evening, falling 4-2 to the No. 21-ranked Bulldogs. Austin College is now 7-6-1 overall on the year.

Texas Lutheran got on the scoreboard early, with Jack Manke tallying at the 11:54 mark of the opening half, and less than a minute later Preston Huff scored on an assist from Cole Sixkiller to make it 2-0. Austin College was able to get back on track defensively over the rest of the half, heading into the break trailing by a pair of goals. Both teams managed six shot attempts, though five of TLU's shots were on target, compared to one for the 'Roos.

The TLU margin grew to 3-0 early in the second half, as Erick Lopez scored at the 47:01 mark to make it 3-0. However, Austin College began to mount a comeback bid just under 20 minutes later, as Jacob Tekle drew a penalty kick and Louis Catchpole took advantage, scoring his 13th goal of the year to get the 'Roos on the board. Catchpole would add his 14th goal in the 70th minute on a feed from Pierce Wear chipping a shot over TLU keeper Aiden Page to cut it to 3-2. However, that's as close as Austin College would get, with Louis Hart scoring a dagger goal in the 83rd minute to make it a 4-2 final.

Everardo Garza made seven saves for Austin College and Page had three stops for TLU, as the Bulldogs held a 21-12 edge in shots by the time the final horn sounded. Austin College is back in action on Sunday as they head to Georgetown to take on Southwestern.
