Offensive Explosion Propels 'Roos Past LeTourneau

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's soccer team tallied twice in the game's opening four minutes and never looked back against visiting LeTourneau University on Monday, coming away with a 5-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets to move to 2-0 overall on the year.

Louis Catchpole recorded a hat trick for the 'Roos, whose five team goals are the most the program has scored in a single game since a 6-4 victory over Sul Ross in 2018. Catchpole got the scoring started early for Austin College, finding the back of the net off of a feed from Pedro Echeverria just 2:48 into the game, and Pierce Wear tacked on a goal of his own just 57 seconds later.

LeTourneau got on the board in the 21st minute of action on a goal by Caleb Bransford, but Wear tallied again in the 37th minute, this time off of a feed from Sam Spencer to send the 'Roos into halftime leading 3-1. Catchpole got his second goal early in the second half to make it 4-1, scoring at the 51:47 mark, and after the Jackets got one back off the foot of Caleb Nelson in the 66th minute, Catchpole completed his hat trick in the 90th minute to make it a 5-2 final. The 'Roos finished the game with a 19-10 shot advantage.
