Men's Hoops Completes Season Sweep of Gents

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College men's basketball team completed its first ever season sweep of Centenary College since the Gents joined the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in 2011, topping the Gents 70-59 on Friday evening. The 'Roos are now 8-9 on the year.

Tristan Dick poured in 26 points and Joshua Joe added 20 for Austin College, as the 'Roos knocked down 10 threes as a team and dominated the glass with a 51-30 rebounding advantage. Dick connected on 10-of-22 shots, including 5-of-15 from long range, and posted a double-double with 11 rebounds while adding a pair of assists and two blocked shots to lead the 'Roos to the victory in a game that saw Centenary take a 38-31 lead into halftime.

Austin College took complete control in the second half, however, pulling to within 43-40 on a Kidus Getenet triple with 16:12 left and taking the lead three and a half minutes later when Dick's three pointer made it a 47-45 game. The margin grew to 53-46 on a bucket by Joe with just over nine minutes left, and Getenet pushed the lead to double figures at 59-49 with 6:05 showing on the clock. Dick gave the 'Roos their largest lead of the game with another three to make it 64-52 at the 4:57 mark, and Austin College would cruise to the win in the game's closing moments.

Getenet finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, and Jordan Hudgins pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds in the victory. Seth Thomas paced Centenary with 16 points, and Craig Collier added 14 for the Gents.
