SHERMAN, Texas - McMurry University used a big first half run to build a double-digit halftime lead over the Austin College men's basketball team, and the 'Roos were unable to mount a comeback in a 90-77 defeat on Thursday evening in Hughey Gym. The 'Roos are now 6-8 overall on the year.

The two teams went back and forth to open the game, with Jackson Rennie's three pointer giving the 'Roos a 19-15 advantage midway through the first half, but McMurry went on a 21-2 run that was started and capped off by triples from CJ LeBlanc to put the War Hawks on top 36-21 at the 3:47 mark. A trey from Matt Pena pushed the McMurry lead to 42-25, and the 'Roos would head into the locker room trailing 44-28.

Another three from LeBlanc put McMurry on top 51-32 less than two minutes into the second half, and the deficit grew to 62-38 with just under 15 minutes left in the game. Austin College scored six quick points to cut it to an 18 point game at 62-44, and after McMurry got the lead back to 20 at 66-46, Rennie buried a three and Jamien June completed a three-point-play to make it 68-52 with just over 10 minutes remaining. Tristan Dick knocked down a three to cut it to 77-64 at the 6:07 mark, and Rennie would add a layup to get the deficit down to 79-68 with under five minutes to play but that's as close as Austin College would get the rest of the way.

Dick came off the bench to score a game-high 26 points for the 'Roos, knocking down 11-of-17 shots and adding nine rebounds and three steals. Joe added 20 points, and Rennie chipped in 15. LeBlanc paced McMurry with 24 points and Elias Garcia had 12 points and 14 rebounds.
