'Roos Get Second Straight Buzzer Beater Victory

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - For the second straight game, the Austin College men's basketball team picked up a dramatic win at the buzzer as Ethan Pearce knocked down a three as time expired to lift the 'Roos to a 73-70 victory at the University of Ozarks. The 'Roos are now 3-3 overall on the year.

Austin College trailed 36-29 at the half against the Eagles, who topped the 'Roos 66-56 in Sherman on November 14. The 'Roos were able to avenge that loss on Saturday thanks to a big second half performance in which they shot 59.4% from the field as a team and made 5-of-10 threes, including Pearce's game-winner. Kidus Getenet, who won Austin College's last game with a buzzer beater three of his own, scored 18 of his game-high 23 points in the team's big second half, knocking down 7-of-8 shots overall and 4-of-5 from deep. Getenet finished the game 8-of-13 overall and 4-of-6 from three while adding six rebounds.

Tristan Dick came up just shy of a double-double for the 'Roos, scoring 15 points while grabbing nine rebounds. He also came away with three steals and handed out a pair of assists, tying Jamien June for the team lead in both. June came off the bench to score a career-best 13 points, hitting 6-of-9 shots in the victory. Price Bradley added nine points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the win. Tim Eldridge led Ozarks with 21 points.

Austin College is back in action on Sunday when they take on Hendrix College. The 'Roos and Warriors met last Monday, with Austin College pulling out a 64-62 win in Hughey Gym. That victory kicked off a three game win streak to bring the 'Roos back to .500, with those three victories coming by a combined seven points and going right down to the final horn.
