'Roo Men's Hoops Falls at St. Thomas

HOUSTON, Texas - The Austin College men's basketball team fell in a 56-33 hole at halftime and couldn't mount a comeback against hot-shooting St. Thomas, falling 103-70 on Friday evening. The 'Roos are now 3-8 overall on the year.

Tristan Dick scored all of his team-high 17 points in the first half and was the only 'Roo to reach double figures, as Austin College shot just 37.9% from the field compared to 54.2% for the Celts. St. Thomas also knocked down 11 threes, while Austin College hit just 5-of-20 attempts from beyond the arc. The Celts also outscored the 'Roos 28-15 at the free throw line, and out-rebounded Austin College 45-28. 

Jackson Rennie scored nine points for Austin College, who trailed by as many as 43 points in the second half when the Celts went on top 83-40, while Rex King, Ocie Berry, and Jaylyn Cleamons all chipped in eight. Cleamons also paced the 'Roos with five rebounds and four assists, hitting 2-of-4 field goals and 4-of-6 from the free throw line. The Celts got 20 points from Christian Alaekwe and 18 from Freddie Ricks, who went 4-of-8 from deep. Andrew Adebo scored 13 points and grabbed 16 boards and Cameron Gims added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Austin College will be looking to bounce back on Sunday in Colorado Springs, as the 'Roos take on Colorado College at noon Mountain time.
