SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College baseball team earned an 11-5 victory over visiting Blackburn College on Saturday evening as the team kicked off Spring Break at Baker Field, bringing the team's overall record to 4-6 on the season.

The game was scoreless through the first two and a half innings until Asher Thompson got the 'Roos on the board with a two-run double, bringing home Brandon Hill and Jake Trapani. The margin grew to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by RayShawn Riley, but after striking out seven batters in the first four innings, Blackburn was finally able to get to starting pitcher Trystan Mallory with a run-scoring infield single to make it 3-1 in the fifth. Two more runs would come across in the sixth for the Beavers to even things up, and that's how things would stand going into the bottom of the seventh.

Austin College erupted for six runs in that frame to take a commanding 9-3 lead, with a throwing error opening the door to two runs to kick things off, followed by a two-run double by Riley. Riley came around to score on a triple by Trapani, and Trapani scored on an RBI from Hill. Blackburn got two runs back to cut it to 9-5 in the eighth, but Austin College responded with two more runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning to seal the 11-5 victory.

Tyler Ramage got the win in relief for Austin College, giving up two runs on two hits with four strikeouts in 2.0 innings of work, while Mallory got a no-decision after striking out eight batters and surrendering three runs -- only one earned -- on seven hits in 5.1 innings of action. Riley was 2-for-4 with three RBI and Tino Ramirez was 2-for-2 with two RBI while also drawing three walks to lead the 'Roos offensively, as Austin College had six different players record two hits, finishing with 13 total as a team. Andrew Lozano went 3-for-5 with two RBI to pace Blackburn.
