SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College baseball team fell in an early 5-0 hole and was unable to come all the way back, falling 10-8 to visiting Arlington Baptist University on Tuesday evening at Baker Field.

An early error opened the door for the Patriots to plate five runs, all unearned, in the opening frame, and that remained the score until the bottom of the third when Austin College managed to get two runs across. Keaton High got things started with a sacrifice fly to score a run, and Mason Woodhouse followed with an RBI single. Arlington Baptist got both runs back in the fourth before Austin College made it 6-3 on an RBI double by Tripp Thoms, and Ryan Padfield brought home another run in the fifth. The 'Roos trimmed it to a 6-5 game on a sac bunt by High in the sixth, but the Patriots pushed the margin to 8-5 in the top of the seventh.

Padfield added another RBI single in the bottom of the seventh, and after ABU got a run back to make it 10-7 in the eighth the 'Roos would get one run back in the bottom of the inning on a Jake Trapani base hit, and Brandon Hill brought home another run to make it 10-8 in the ninth but that's where the rally would end.

Trapani took the loss in relief, surrendering three runs on five hits in 4.0 innings of work. Thoms finished 3-for-4, and Woodhouse, Padfield, and Hill each had a pair of hits.
