Austin College Baseball Falls to Howard Payne

CLEBURNE, Texas - The Austin College baseball team dropped a non-conference matchup against Howard Payne University on Tuesday, falling 5-0 to bring the team's record to 5-17 overall on the year.

The game was scoreless through the first two and a half innings before Howard Payne broke through with four of their five runs in the bottom of the third. Austin College struggled to get things going offensively in the game, mustering just three hits while drawing six walks. The 'Roos were not able to get any of those baserunners home, and HPU added its fifth and final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it 5-0.

Mason Woodhouse was 1-for-2 with a double, while Brandon Hill and Tyler Ward each had a hit in the defeat. Josef Potter took the loss for Austin College, surrendering four runs on five hits in an inning of work in relief. Seth Bowman went 3-for-4 to pace Howard Payne at the dish.
