Austin College Baseball Drops Pair at McMurry

ABILENE, Texas - The Austin College baseball team dropped both halves of its doubleheader at McMurry University on Tuesday, falling 7-4 in game one and 13-1 in game two.

Game one was scoreless until the bottom of the third, when the War Hawks pushed a pair of runs across to take a 2-0 lead. Brandon Hill scored on a balk in the top of the fourth cut make it 2-1, but McMurry tacked on two runs in the bottom of the inning and another in the fifth to go on top 5-1. Ethan Lowery singled home a pair of runs to open up a three run sixth for Austin College, with Tripp Thoms also drawing a bases loaded walk to make it 5-4, but two runs in the bottom of the sixth made it a 7-4 final.

Jake Trapani took the loss for Austin College, giving up two runs on four hits in 3.0 innings of work, and five different players each had a base hit for the 'Roos. Riley Hood and Koy Carpenter each drove in two runs for McMurry.

McMurry plated two runs in the first and another two in the second of game two to go on top 4-0, and the War Hawks exploded for six more runs in the fourth to make it a 10-0 game. Austin College got on the board with an RBI single from Grant Yudizky in the sixth, but the War Hawks plated three more in the bottom of the inning to make it a 13-1 final. Ethan Nixon got the loss for Austin College, surrendering unearned two runs on one hit in an inning of work. Yudizky's single was the only hit of the game for Austin College in defeat.
