'Roos Drop Road Game at Southeastern Oklahoma

DURANT, Okla. - The Austin College baseball team traveled up the road to Durant on Tuesday afternoon to take on NCAA Division II opponent Southeastern Oklahoma, falling 20-5 in the game. The 'Roos are now 3-5 on the year.

Southeastern jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after the first inning and pushed nine more runs across in the second to make it a 9-0 game, with Austin College getting on the board in the top of the third on an RBI single by Jake Trapani. The lead grew to 11-1 in the bottom half of the inning and 13-1 in the fourth, with Austin College getting four runs back in the fifth to cut it to a 13-5 game. Brandon Hill got things started with an RBI triple and Asher Thompson added a two-run double. Nick Griffin later scored on a wild pitch to cap the inning for the 'Roos.

SOSU got one run back in the bottom of the fifth and added another in the sixth to make it 15-5, and the margin grew to 18-5 in the seventh before ultimately expanding to 20-5 in the bottom of the eighth. Zack Czarnecky took the loss for Austin College, surrendering seven runs on three hits with four walks in 1.1 innings of work. Tripp Thoms went 3-for-5 with a run scored to lead Austin College offensively.
