SHERMAN, Texas - Some early errors helped visiting LeTourneau build an early 6-1 lead and Austin College was unable to complete its comeback bid, falling 8-6 against the Jackets on Tuesday evening at Baker Field.

A wild pitch brought home the first run in the game's opening inning, and LeTourneau would extend the inning with a catcher's interference, resulting in an unearned run to make it 2-0 early. Austin College got one run back in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Hill, but two errors in the second opened the door for four runs and a 6-1 lead for LeTourneau. Walker Davis scored on an error in the bottom of the second to cut it to 6-2, and Scott Hosmer had a sacrifice fly in the third to make it 6-3.

LeTourneau added a run in the fourth and one more in the sixth to make it 8-3, but Jake Trapani doubled home a run and later scored on a wild pitch to make it 8-5 in the seventh, and Trapani would knock home one more run in the ninth to cut it to 8-6. However, that's as close as things would get and the Jackets would hold off the 'Roos.

Kurtis Gustafson took the loss for Austin College, surrendering six runs - only one earned - on three hits. Tripp Thoms went 2-for-3 with two runs scored to pace the 'Roos, while Dylan Cortes picked up the win in relief for LeTourneau.
