Ukasick nets 18 in loss to Austin

Box Score Freshman forward Korbyn Ukasick poured in a season-high 18 points, but it wasn't enough to lift Colorado College to its first victory of the season.

Junior guard Christina Kime recorded a game-high 19 points to lead Austin College to a 70-60 victory in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday night at Reid Arena.

Junior guard Courtney Tyus came close to posting her second double-double in the last three games, finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Trailing by as many as seven points early in the second half, the Tigers trimmed their deficit to 47-44 on a pair of Tyus free throws with 11:44 remaining in the game. That proved to be as close as CC would get.

Austin took control of the contest with an 18-8 run, building a 65-52 lead after Kime sank a pair of free throws with 4:28 to play.

Sophomore forward Danielle Davis added nine points and eight rebounds for Colorado College, which slipped to 0-12.

Senior guard Erin Riley finished with 16 points, while Brittany Stepanski added 13 for the 'Roos, who improved to 6-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Austin opened a seven-point advantage 8:31 into the contest when Riley connected on one of her four baskets from behind the arc, but CC clawed its way back to grab a 27-26 lead on a short jumper by sophomore guard Katie Waters.

Kendall Heitmeier put the 'Roos in front to stay with 3:51 left in the first half and the visitors led 37-34 after 20 minutes.

Colorado College plays host to Centenary College on Sunday at noon.
