Johnson Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo softball player Alexus Johnson.

Johnson, a junior from Humble, earned a victory in the circle in her debut for Austin College to help the 'Roos sweep their doubleheader with Hendrix in the season-opener. Johnson got the start in the team's first game of the year, throwing a complete game and earning the win in a 9-4 game, with all four of Hendrix's runs being unearned. Johnson scattered five hits and struck out three batters in the win, which helped the 'Roos to their first twinbill sweep of the Warriors since 2014. She also batted .333 with two RBI and a run scored in the double-dip.

Modern Woodmen of America is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
