Smith Named Modern Woodmen Student-Athlete of the Week

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo volleyball player Victoria Smith.

Smith, a senior outside hitter from Carrollton, has hit double figures in kills in three of the team's last five matches, including notching 17 in a five-set match against nationally-ranked Trinity University. Smith is now averaging 2.16 kills-per-set this season, including 2.27 in the team's last 10 matches. She's also putting up career-best numbers in blocks, boasting an average of 0.86-per-set, and already has more block solos with 18 this season than in any of her other three seasons, in which she combined for 21. Smith heads into the upcoming weekend with more than 100 matches played in her four-year career, totaling 778 kills, 243 total blocks, and 169 digs.

Modern Woodmen of America is proud to recognize and support the ongoing achievements of Austin College student-athletes. Their North Texas Region understands that the pursuit of excellence on and off the field creates a foundation for continued excellence after graduation.
