SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo football player Colton Gerken.

Gerken, senior linebacker from Grand Prairie, has gotten his 2023 campaign off to a big start. Gerken currently leads the 'Roos and ranks third in the American Southwest Conference in tackles, totaling 22 through the team's first two games for an average of 11.5 tackles-per-game. Gerken opened the season with 10 tackles and an interception against Nebraska Wesleyan, and followed that up with 12 tackles, including 1.5 for loss, as well as two pass breakups on the road against Rhodes. Last season, Gerken finished second on the team with 81 tackles, and he currently has 143 for his career.
