SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College athletics is excited to announce the Modern Woodmen of America Student-Athlete of the Week, an award highlighting our great student-athletes on and off the field of play each week. This week's honoree is 'Roo football player Tyler Hanes.

Hanes, a senior from Arlington, wrapped up his playing career in the fall but has continued to receive recognition for his outstanding work not just on the field, but also in the classroom this spring. He was named one of just five winners of the 2023 Collegiate Scholar-Athlete Award given by the National Football Foundation Gridiron Club of Dallas, with other programs represented being Texas Christian University, Southern Methodist University, Texas Wesleyan University, and Midwestern State. Hanes was a starter on the Austin College offensive line, and has continued this spring as a graduate assistant with the program.
