Women's Cross Country Takes 3rd, Men 4th at Austin College Invitational

The Austin College women's cross country team placed third and the men's team came in fifth at the Austin College Invitational on Saturday morning, the first cross country meet the 'Roos have hosted since restarting the women's varsity program three years ago and the men's program this fall.

The University of Texas-Dallas won a tiebreaker with the University of Dallas to win on the women's side in a field of five teams. Alex Quinn paced the 'Roos with a finishing time of 20:42 on the 5k course at Pecan Grove Park, good for seventh place overall. Eden Llamas took eighth with a time of 20:46. Sally Kate Humphries placed 12th and Hailee Meiners was 13th, finishing with times of 21:14 and 21:50, respectively. Amanda Goodson finished 18th with a time of 22:30, and Zerlina Fung was 19th with a time of 23:36.

On the men's side, Southwest Assemblies of God won the five team meet, while Austin College's Chris Burke placed third overall with a time of 16:14 to lead the 'Roos. Alex Berghorn also placed in the top 20, finishing with a time of 18:18 to take 19th place in the meet. Julio Torres finished 30th with a time of 19:43, and Tristan Ortiz was 32nd with a time of 20:11. Eric Garza rounded out the top five finishers for Austin College with a time of 21:29 to place 37th overall.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
