LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Office of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tabulated the final votes for the Women's 2018-19 Tennis Season, and five names from the Austin College Women's program were recognized.
Two members earned First-Team Honors, and three Student-Athletes were recognized as Honorable Mention.
Melody Duong (Sophomore - League City, TX) went 9-7 at the #1 Singles Line this season, and qualified for the Semi-Finals of the Fall ITA Regional Singles Championships, earning the rank of #49 Player in the Nation. Duong also went 11-5 in doubles play at Line 1 with Diana Carvajalino. The two are currently ranked at #12 in the West Region as a doubles team. Duong was named to the All-SCAC First Team for the second time in her career, as she was named Newcomer of the Year in the 2018 season.
Diana Carvajalino (Junior - Hurst, TX) also earned First-Team All-SCAC, her second designation in the Top-10 players in the conference (First Team 2018). Carvajalino went 12-6 at Line 1 Doubles this season and compiled an 11-5 record in Singles at Line 2.
Anna Sergiovanni (Junior - Richardson, TX), Georgia Moore (Sophomore - Dallas, TX), and Kirsten Weber (Senior - Texarkana, TX) all earned Honorable Mention All-SCAC. Sergiovanni went 8-7 in Singles and 10-8 in Doubles, Moore compiled a 6-5 & 9-9 recond in Singles and Doubles respectively, and Weber contributed three Singles victories and seven Doubles victories on the year.
This is Sergiovanni & Weber's third designation on the All-SCAC Team (Sergiovanni 1st Team 2017, Honorable Mention 2018 | Weber 1st Team 2016, 2017), and Moore's first commendation on the All-SCAC Roster. In all, five members named to All-SCAC is the most in Austin College program history.
