'Roos Wrap Up Wabash Invitational

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Austin College men's and women's swim teams wrapped up their weekend trip to Indiana on Sunday at the Wabash Invitational, with the 'Roo men finishing ninth with 289 points while the women placed eighth with 476 points.

Sammi Thiele broke her own record in the 200 breaststroke on Sunday, taking first place in that event with a time of 2:22.69, nearly two seconds faster than her previous program mark. She also took first place in the 100 individual medley, as the only swimmer at the meet to finish in under a minute with a time of 58.69, which broke the Wabash Invitational meet record. Liberty Chanin added a strong swim in the 1650 free on Sunday, taking sixth place with a time of 18:25.70, while Alex Lai took ninth place in the men's 100 IM with a time of 57.08. 

The 'Roo men placed 11th in the 400 free relay, with the team of Jonas Eaton, Jayden Crews, Sean Cookson, and Lai coming in with a time of 3:20.06, while the women finished that event with a time of 3:52.51 to take 15th behind the team of Thiele, Lauren Olivier, Cassidee Levine, and Jordan Armstrong.

Austin College is off until December 3, when the 'Roos host Colorado College and McMurry for Senior Day at 1:00 p.m. in Hannah Natatorium.
