'Roo Swimming Falls at Southwestern

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swim teams fell in their first road meet of the season on Saturday, with the men dropping a 144-69 decision against Southwestern while the women fell 132-78.

Sammi Thiele picked up three first place finishes to lead Austin College, swimming the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.06, the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.59, and the 200 individual medley in 2:13.50 to win each event. Jonas Eaton added a first place finish in the 50 freestyle on the men's side, coming in with a time of 23.40 - just 0.01 seconds ahead of the second place finisher for Southwestern. Sean Cookson got first place points in the 100 butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:02.24, and Abbi Reece got first place points on the women's side in that same event, touching with a time of 1:09.49.

The team of Lee Campbell, Reece, Cassidee Levine, and Jordan Armstrong delivered first place points in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:55.13, and Alex Lai got an individual win for the men in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:10.36. The 'Roos had a number of second place finishes during the meet as well, with Becca Tobias taking second in the 200 IM and Gabriel Fulton coming in second in the 200 breaststroke. Tobias also took second in the 200 backstroke, and Cookson added another second place finish in the 100 freestyle. Levine added a second place finish in the women's 50 free, coming in with a time of 28.81 in the event.
