'Roo Women's Swimming Dominant in Home Meet

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College swimming and diving team had a huge day with a number of first place finishes and a record-setting performance by Samantha Thiele in the 200 breaststroke to top Centenary and McMurry in the team's lone home meet of the season. The 'Roos defeated Centenary 133-95 and McMurry 149-74 on the day.

Thiele and Chloe Hunt each had four first place finishes, and Thiele's time of 2:32.65 broke the program record and was nearly 15 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Hunt, Thiele, Jade Kemp, and Eleanna Martinez got the scoring started with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay, finishing with a time of 1:59.51, and Hunt would pick up her second victory of the day not long after with a first place time of 2:10.42 in the 200 freestyle.

Kemp added a first place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.59, and Thiele earned first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.91. Thiele and Martinez finished in the top two spots in the 50 free, with Thiele coming out on top with a time of 26.35, while Martinez took first in the 100 free with a time of 1:01.39. Hunt added a victory in the 200 back, touching with a time of 2:21.84 in the event. 

Zuni Rubio had a second place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:11.09, and Becca Tobias gave the 'Roos first place points in the 400 individual medley with a time of 5:31.91. Kemp, Louisa White, Rubio, and Hunt wrapped up the day with a first place finish in the 200 free relay, coming in with a time of 1:53.66.
