Women's Hoops Falls to Texas Lutheran

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's basketball team dropped a 48-36 decision against Texas Lutheran on Saturday evening in Hughey Gym, bringing the 'Roos to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play this season.

The 'Roos managed to hit just 10-of-41 shots in the game, including 3-of-21 from long distance, and Texas Lutheran took advantage of 22 offensive rebounds to hand Austin College the defeat. The Bulldogs owned advantages of 16-7 in second chance points, 22-12 on points in the paint, and 14-8 in points off of turnovers to pull away from the 'Roos after it was 23-18 with TLU on top at halftime. The Bulldogs outscored Austin College 14-8 in the third quarter to go on top 37-26, and the 'Roos were unable to climb their way back in.

Texas Lutheran finished the game with 66 shot attempts, compared to just 41 for Austin College. The Bulldogs led by as many as 18 points in the game with six and a half minutes to play, and Austin College was unable to get the margin under double digits in the final 11 minutes of the game. Sarah Gwin made 3-of-10 field goal attempts, including 2-of-7 from deep, on her way to 11 points to pace the 'Roos, and Paulina Porter had nine points, six rebounds, and three assists. Sarah Putnicki had seven points and nine boards in the loss.

TLU got 12 points from Kailee Mulkey on 4-of-17 shooting, and Mulkey added 10 rebounds to complete the double-double. Sydney Shaw added 10 points and six boards for the Bulldogs.
