Austin College Women Ready for SCAC Tournament

SHERMAN, Texas - The No. 23-ranked Austin College women's basketball team finished the regular season with an overall record of 21-4 and a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark of 14-4, earning the 'Roos the No. 2-seed in this weekend's conference tournament in Kerrville, hosted by Schreiner University.

The 'Roos opened the year with a 12-0 record to earn a national ranking for the second year in a row, and they've remained in both the D3Hoops.com and WBCA Top 25 polls each week of 2020. Austin College notched its third straight 20-win season, the longest such streak in more than 20 years, and enter the tournament as the No. 9-ranked team in the South Region.

The tournament gets underway on Friday, with No. 4-seed Schreiner taking on No. 5-seed Texas Lutheran, the defending tournament champion. The winner of that game takes on top-seeded Trinity University, who handed the 'Roos two of their four defeats this season. The second quarterfinal game on Friday will be between No. 3-seed Colorado College and No. 6-seed Southwestern, with the winner advancing to take on the 'Roos on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The 'Roos topped Colorado College twice this year, while the Pirates upset Austin College in Georgetown in early January to split the season series 1-1. Should the 'Roos earn the win on Saturday evening, they'll move on to the conference title game on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

All of the tournament action will be streamed for free and feature live statistics, which can be found on the official SCAC Tournament website.
