'Roos Perform Well at TLU DIII Challenge

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College distance track team turned in several strong performances on Saturday as the 'Roos competed at the Texas Lutheran Division III Challenge.

Leading the way on the men's side was RJ Navarro, who finished third in the 5000-meter race, coming in with a time of 16:13.13, just shy of breaking his own school record. Charlie McIntyre added a seventh place finish in that event, finishing with a time of 17:21.17. Navarro finished first in his heat and in 11th place overall in the 800-meter, crossing with a time of 2:07.15, while Chris Biffar was 13th overall in that event with a time of 2:09.10. 

The 'Roos competed in the 1-mile run for the first time in program history, with Biffar finishing eighth overall and establishing a school record time of 4:48.79, while Andrew Thomas placed ninth with a time of 5:00.65. On the women's side, Hannah Richards established a school record in the 1-mile race, finishing in sixth place with a time of 5:59.36. Danielle Lozano added a fifth place finish in the 5000-meter race, taking more than a minute off of her previous personal best and coming in with a time of 20:57.97. She also finished 11th in the 1-mile race, coming in with a time of 6:13.51. 

Austin College also got good performances from Jessica Hoffman and Abigail Morgan in the 800-meter event, with Hoffman's time of 2:59.80 good for 11th while Morgan's time of 3:13.51 was good for 15th place. Both times were new personal bests.
