Program Records Fall for Distance Track at TAMU-Commerce

COMMERCE, Texas - The Austin College distance track team performed well at the East Texas Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M Commerce, with several program records being broken at the meet.

Men's runner Matthew Gregory ran a personal best and also set a new program record in the 1500 meter, coming in with a time of 4:29.21, good for 18th place in the event. Gregory's time was the third best among Division III runners who competed in the race.

On the women's side, Shelby Stipp made an impressive debut, competing with the team for the first time and finishing ninth in the 800 meter with a time of 2:33.54. That time was also good for a new program record. Tori Dodd also performed well in the event, coming in with a time of 3:09.25 - just one second off of her personal best time in the race.

Stipp wasn't the only women's runner to set a new record for the 'Roos, with Hannah Richards coming in fourth in the 1500 meter with an Austin College record-setting time of 5:11.60. Madison Galvan also ran a personal best 5:32.52 in that same event.

Alex Quinn continued her strong year, placing fourth in the 5000 meter race. Quinn finished with a time of 20:12.69 in the event.
