'Roo Swimming Splits with McMurry

The Austin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams split their first home meet of the season on Friday night against McMurry, with the women winning 99-72 while the men fell 141-70. 

Several swimmers on both sides had strong performances at the meet, including first place finishes on the women's side by Dory Johnson in the 100 butterfly, Anne Booker in the 50 freestyle, Lauren Wheeler in both the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, as well as Katie Hasson in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. The 'Roos also earned first place finishes in the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay. 

On the men's side, Erik Gentzel took first in the 100 backstroke, finishing in his all-time personal best, and Zack Bengston took first in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Also performing well were Mark Perez, who took second in the 100 freestyle, as well as Truman Word, who took second in the 1000 freestyle. The 'Roos also placed second in the 200 free relay.
