'Roos Drop Two in Boston

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Austin College men's water polo team dropped a pair of games to MIT and Harvard on Sunday to wrap up the Bruno Invite, finishing the weekend with a 1-4 record. The 'Roos fell 16-11 to MIT and 21-10 to Harvard.

Against MIT, the 'Roos were all square at 4-4 after the opening quarter, but a 5-3 edge in the second quarter sent MIT into halftime leading 9-7. The lead grew to 12-9 after three quarters, and the deficit grew to five goals early in the fourth at 14-9. Austin College was unable to recover, falling 16-11 in the game. Robert Griffin, Cade Griffith, and Dylan McArthur each tallied twice to pace Austin College, while Evan Cueva, Andrew Pope, Will Koelzer, Connor Watson, and Nik Koelzer each found the back of the net once.

In the final game of the weekend against Harvard, the 'Roos found themselves trailing 7-0 after the opening quarter before rallying back with a big second quarter in which they outscored the Crimson 6-3. That made the score 10-6 at halftime, but Harvard used a 7-1 third quarter to put the game away, going up by as many as 12 goals at 21-9 late in the fourth. 

McArthur led Austin College with four goals, while Nico Masso and Nik Koelzer each tallied twice. Watson and Max Wade scored a goal each in the defeat.
