Water Polo Falls to Princeton and Fordham

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Austin College men's water polo team dropped a pair of games to Division I foes Princeton and Fordham on Sunday, falling by scores of 18-5 and 21-4, respectively, bringing the team's record to 0-4 on the year.

Against Princeton, the Tigers grabbed a quick 3-0 lead before Austin College got on the board with a goal by Michael Colmenares. Three more Princeton goals made it 6-1 before Austin Collee got a tally from Nico Masso, making it 6-2 after the first quarter. Princeton would out-score the 'Roos 6-1 in the second to take a 12-3 halftime lead, with Max Wade notching the lone score for Austin College in the period. The Tigers continued to pull away in the third, going on top 16-3, before Austin College added a pair of fourth quarter goals from Wade and Robert Griffin to make it an 18-5 final. Michael Marks recorded 12 blocks in goal for the 'Roos.

In the game against Fordham, Austin College battled early, getting goals from Brett Skinner and Griffin to keep it a 3-2 game early, but Fordham ripped off six straight to go ahead 9-2 and would eventually take a 12-3 lead into halftime. Kyle Brown scored the lone Austin College goal in the second quarter. A 6-0 third quarter in Fordham's favor made it 18-3 heading into the fourth, where Nick Capalan would score just before time expired to make it a 21-4 final.
