BALTIMORE, Md. - The Austin College men's water polo team made history, picking up the first victory in program history with a 16-15 win over Monmouth College on Sunday. Andrew Pope lifted the 'Roos to the win, scoring a goal with just eight seconds remaining.

Pope finished the game with five goals, and Robert Griffin added four tallies. Brett Skinner and Nico Masso each added a pair of goals in the victory. The 'Roos trailed 2-1 after the first quarter but erupted for six goals in the second quarter, including four from Pope, to take a 7-5 lead after two quarters. However, Monmouth out-scored Austin College 5-2 in the third, making it 10-9 in favor of the Scots heading into the fourth quarter.

Griffin scored twice early in the quarter, and after a goal by Skinner, two more goals from Griffin squared things up at 14 with 2:43 remaining in the game. Skinner scored again to give the 'Roos a 15-14 lead, but Monmouth found the net with just 36 seconds left to once again knot things up. However, Pope would get the game-winner with eight seconds remaining, lifting the 'Roos to the historic win.

Andrew Pomier made 15 saves for Austin College in the victory. The 'Roos finish the DIII Eastern Championships as the sixth place teams out of the seven who competed this weekend.
