LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. –Austin College men's basketball player Justice Mercadel has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office has announced. 

Mercadel, a sophomore guard from Little Elm, had an outstanding week in leading the 'Roos to a 2-0 record against Paul Quinn College and Hendrix College. Mercadel averaged 24.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists-per-game in the two victories while shooting 65% from the field and 88% from the free throw line.

Mercadel flirted with a triple-double in the game against PQC, scoring 26 points and grabbing nine rebounds while dishing out seven assists. He also averaged 1.5 steals-per-game in the two contests. 

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
