'Roos Fall in Last Second Heartbreaker at Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Rhodes College scored on a 50-yard touchdown pass with just 12 seconds remaining to hand the Austin College football a heartbreaking loss on Saturday, with the 'Roos falling 37-32 in the team's final game of the year. Austin College ends the season with an overall record of 3-7.

Austin College trailed 31-20 early in the fourth quarter before Colt Collins connected with Kyle Mucerino on a pair of touchdowns to put the 'Roos ahead 32-31 with just three minutes to play, but Rhodes quarterback PJ Settles would find Carter King with the late, desperation heave to give the win to the Lynx. 

The teams went back and forth all game, with Rhodes striking first on a 46-yard run by Settles before Collins hit Mucerino for a 30-yard touchdown and Brandon Evans ran one in from seven yards out to make it 14-7 in favor of the 'Roos. Rhodes would score late in the second quarter to make it 14-14 at halftime. A 32-yard run by Settles and a 21-yard field goal put Rhodes ahead 24-14 heading into the fourth quarter before Collins and Mucerino connected on a 36-yard touchdown with 13:29 left in the game to make it 24-20. Settles scored on another long run, this time 51 yards, to make it 31-20 and set up the late game dramatics.

Collins finished the game completing 14-of-33 passes for 318 yards with four touchdowns and two picks and added 108 rushing yards, and Mucerino hauled in eight receptions for 217 yards and four touchdowns. TJ Melontree had eight tackles and an interception to lead Austin College.

Settles completed 13-of-24 passes for 302 yards with two touchdowns and an interception and rushed for 220 yards on 24 carries with three more scores on the ground to pace the Lynx offensively.
