The Austin College offense could never really get going on Saturday in Georgetown, and the 'Roos found themselves on the wrong end of a 37-7 decision against Southwestern University. The 'Roos are now 2-3 overall and 0-1 in SCAC play.

The offensive struggles began early, as Cooper Woodyard's pass attempt on the team's first play from scrimmage was picked off, setting up a 46 yard field goal for the Pirates to make it a 3-0 game. The Pirates would strike again in the first quarter, this time on an 18 yard touchdown run to make it 10-0 heading into the second.

Another touchdown for Southwestern, this time with a failed point after, made it 16-0 early in the second quarter. Austin College was finally able to break through with a strong drive, going 84 yards in seven plays, culminating in a 36 yard touchdown pass from Woodyard to Tom Clancy to cut it to a 16-7 game at halftime.

However, those would be the last points Austin College would get on the board. The Pirates scored once in the third to make it a 23-7 game, adding a pair of touchdown runs - first less than a minute into the fourth and then with a final touchdown with just 15 seconds left - to make it a 37-7 final score.

Austin College was limited to 191 yards of total offense, while Southwestern racked up 603 in the game. Woodyard finished 12-of-33 for 184 yards with a touchdown and a pick, with Clancy catching three passes for 66 yards. Austin College was held to just seven yards on the ground as a team. Charles Eneh made 12 tackles to pace the 'Roos on defense.

Southwestern scored all five of its touchdowns on the ground, piling up 320 rushing yards in the game with quarterback Frederick Hover leading the Pirates with 113 yards on 14 carries. Blake Hicks, the other quarterback for the Pirates, completed 16-of-22 passes for 221 yards and Matt Gillen caught eight balls for 147 yards.
