Taff Named to SCAC 30th Anniversary Team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Austin College baseball alum Brett Taff has been selected to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference 30th Anniversary Team, the league office has announced. Taff is one of 32 players selected throughout the SCAC for this honor.

Taff, who played both third base and shortstop during his three years in Sherman, played for the 'Roos from 2017 through 2019 and was named All-SCAC each of those three seasons. Taff was twice named first team All-SCAC, and finished his career with a .396 batting average to go along with 14 home runs, 24 doubles, four triples, 96 runs scored, 88 runs batted in, and 28 stolen bases. His senior season, he became the first Austin College player to finish as the SCAC batting champion when he hit .413. That season, he was named first team ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, making him the only SCAC player to earn first team honors that season. His .396 career batting average ranks as the 18th best in conference history.

Taff was also excellent in the field, with a .934 career fielding percentage, including .969 during his senior campaign. Taff also made 17 appearances on the mound during his three seasons, posting a 5-4 record with three saves and striking out 28 batters in 44.0 innings pitched.
