Austin College Baseball Blanked by Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College baseball team struggled to get its offense going, and Centenary scored six runs late to hand the 'Roos a 7-0 loss on Saturday morning. The 'Roos are now 13-15 overall and 6-9 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth, when the Gents got a solo homer from Chris Zapata to put them on top 1-0. The score would go unchanged until the seventh, when Zapata homered again, and one more run would cross to make it a 3-0 game. Centenary tacked on four more runs in the eighth, and Austin College was unable to counter. The 'Roos mustered just five hits in the game, with Nick Flynn going 2-for-4 to pace Austin College at the plate.

Brett Taff took the loss, surrendering five runs on nine hits in 7.1 innings of work. Austin College will be looking to bounce back next weekend as they play their final regular season series at home against Texas Lutheran.
