CC Seniors Make the Most of Last Regular-Season Home Match

Box Score The Colorado College volleyball team's seniors made the most of their final regular-season home match with a 25-17, 25-16, 25-9 victory over Austin College on Sunday at Reid Arena.
 
The four active seniors combined for 24 kills and hit .449 as a group as the Tigers continued their march toward the program's third undefeated conference schedule since joining the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference prior to the 2007 season.
 
Right-side hitter Laney Swan put down a season-high nine kills on 15 swings with just one error, and finished the match with a .533 hitting percentage.
 
Outside hitter Allie Freeburg finished with six kills on 16 swings with just one misfire, while middle blocker Emma Hewlin hit a team-high .625 with five kills on an error-free eight attacks. Freeburg also had a hand in seven of the teams nine blocked shots, while Emma Hewlin was in on three.
 
Isabelle Aragon-Menzel had four kills on 10 attempts without an error, good for a .400 clip. She also dished out 27 assists while leading a CC balanced attack to a .407 team hitting percentage. With her sixth assist of the match, Aragon-Menzel became the 14th player in program history to record 1,200 or more during her career.
 
Colorado College also received another massive performance from Georgia Mullins, who hit .615 with nine kills on 13 swings with just one error. The junior middle hitter also was involved in six blocked shots.
 
The CC defense held the 'Roos to -.034 team hitting percentage, which marked the third time this season an opponent hit in negative numbers against the Tigers.
 
After trailing early in the first set, Colorado College overcame a 6-5 deficit with a 13-6 run that included four kills from Swan. After building an 18-12 cushion, the Tigers never let Austin College get closer than four points.
 
The 'Roos were within two points in the second set after a Victoria Smith kill made the score 12-1, but Mullins put down four kills during a 10-3 run that gave CC a 20-11 lead.
 
During the final set, Mullins had six kills on six swings as the Tigers rode a wave of momentum to a 20-4 lead.
 
 
Colorado College Standouts
Isabella Vasquez finished with eight kills and a team-high 11 digs.
Peyton Hummel recorded eight digs and six assists.
 
Austin College Standouts
Olivia Linton led the 'Roos with six kills.
Mari Prazak had a team-high nine digs.
 
Notes
Colorado College improved to 12-0.
Austin College dropped to 6-4.

After a bye week, Colorado College wraps up the regular season with a pair of matches at Centenary College on Friday and Saturday, April 9-10.
