TLU Volleyball loses in four sets at Austin College

SHERMAN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran opened up Friday's conference match against Austin College with a 25-15 first-set win, but the Kangaroos rallied to win the next three sets and grab the home victory.
 
Austin College won 15-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-17 in Hughey Gym.
 
The Kangaroos improved to 1-2 overall and to 1-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
 
TLU dropped to 0-3 overall and to 0-3 in the SCAC.
 
TLU hit .205 in the first set, but the Bulldogs' hitting percentages dropped to .062, -.026 and .100 over the next three sets.
 
The Kangaroos hit -.023 in the first set but rebounded to post percentages of .281, .100 and .371 to close out the match.
 
Hayden Smyers led TLU with 16 kills on 51 attempts. She added 15 digs.
 
Hannah Weinmann chipped in nine kills and six digs. Lexi Morris contributed 14 digs.

TLU and Austin play a second conference match against each other on Saturday. The match begins at 9 a.m. at Hughey Gym.
